Triad Homes Receive Zero Deficiencies From DFS
2007
UMAR’s Bowden, Westridge, Ervin and Waddell homes
each recently received zero deficiencies during their annual review
by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Service’s
Division of Facility Services (DFS).
For those of you not familiar with DFS and its purpose, the division
is responsible for regulating medical, mental health and group care
facilities, emergency medical services, and local jails in North
Carolina. DFS helps ensure that direct care facilities provide for
the health, safety and well-being of individuals through effective
regulatory and remedial activities.
"With DFS being our governing agency, it is a major accomplishment
to get zero deficiencies in these four Triad homes. |
The staff in these homes were rewarded
for their hard work and preparation for this review," says Bob
Kinser, UMAR’s Vice President of Operations.
Kinser optimistically goes on to add, "We plan on having similar
review results in our other group homes."
During a DFS annual review, the agency assesses how well the home
complies with laws and regulations affecting the quality of care
provided. These reviews generally last one day per home and are
always unannounced. If violations are found during the review, fines
can be given to the provider, or, in very serious situations, the
provider’s licence can be suspended or revoked. |
